I had been out of the hobby for about 15 years when I got a call from my best flying buddy urging me to come out to a giant scale meet. The meet was held at the Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio and I was amazed at not only the planes, but the camaraderie of the modelers there.
I came away from that meet with a new zest for the hobby and hooked up with the MVRCC members at both fields. We have been on a tear since then, establishing contacts and flying with other club members from around the world.
I have found that this hobby is all about relationships, friends and discovering new venues, techniques and flying styles. I have also caught myself thinking that our planes are simply a way to get us together to enjoy and strengthen our hobby. Whichever way it works, I am really glad to be back and am enjoying the flying, company and excitement of the state of R/C Flying.
