2.4ghz Radio Systems Revolutionizing Field Ops

Spektrum Radio Systems wowed the R/C community by releasing two major radio systems in one year with the DX6 in February of 2006, and the DX7 in November of the same year.

The new systems use 2.4 Giga-hertz technology along with a binding process that makes getting “Shot Down” a thing of the past and model generated noise a dim memory. In simple terms, the new radios scan for open channels upon turning on the Tx and once it finds one, uses two distinct signals to send information to the receiver. This eliminates two fliers being on the same frequency even if the two transmitters are turned on simultaneously!

Metal-to-metal joints in the airplane may still generate electrical noise, but the frequency range of these noises is far below the operating band of the 2.4 gHz system. Ignition systems in the big gassers are also said not to cause interference.
The DX6 is intended for Park Flyers with a range of up to 900 feet and the DX7 is suitable for even the 40% plus size ships. The DX7 has programming and mixing functions similar to the JR 7102 system and expect to see higher-end versions soon.
