Fort Lee Gate Locking Proceedure
![]()
There are three locks on the gate: ours (yellow-banded Master), Range Control’s (gold-toned) and a contractor’s(blue-banded Master). Two chains, winding through the gates (not the holes) have one connection for the contractor, and the other two ends are held together with Range Control’s lock on one end, and our lock on the other going through that end link ONTO Range Control’s lock. (click the picture to enlarge and view the configuration)
This way, we can open the gate, Range Control can do so, and the contractor has his opening. All three locks are necessary while the contractor is working. Then we return to the single chain through the holes and our lock just on one end of the chain, and Range Control’s on the other end link, BUT WAIT UNTIL WE GET THE WORD ON THAT.
If you happen to find yourself without a key, a spare one is kept in the shed. You may hop the fence and retrieve that key to open the gate. But please, return the key to where you found it so that it may be used by another who may need it.
Further, to avoid the possibility of any unauthorized entry through the gate while you are on the premises , please close the gate and loop the chain and locks though to present the appearance that the gate is locked.
Thank you for your cooperation.
